FROM OUR PRESIDENT: |
Happy fall everyone! Although it doesn't feel like fall, I know that it is near, because Winfield is behind us (or is it way in front??) This month, in place of workshops, we are going to work on the tunes we will be recording on our "demo CD." It will probably take more than one session to get it all down. Hope to see a large turnout. We also will receive the slate of officers for ‘07 and take nominations from the floor. The voting will take place at the Nov. meeting, with the new officers installed at the Christmas party. I also will be looking for suggestions on how to improve the Warm Up Picnic (WUP), so if you have ideas, please plan to share. Join us at 9 a.m. for "Happy ½ Hour" (coffee and donuts.) General meeting starts at 9:30. We have a lot to cover, so hopefully we can start setting up to record at 10 a.m.. See you all then. Prez Joe

VICE PRESIDENTIAL CORNER: |
A FEW WORDS FROM OUR VP:
I hope everyone has recovered from the Warm-up Picnic and Winfield Festival. I want to thank everyone that assisted and participated in this event. It was a wonderful day. The weather held off, we had a good turnout, outstanding workshops, delicious food and enjoyable music. Who could possibly ask for more? A special thanks goes out to Joe and Marie as chairs for this event and all that lent assistance with the planning, gathering and preparation. Your efforts are deeply appreciated. At this month's meeting we will concentrate on creating our new Club CD. This project is going to be a lot of fun, and I encourage each of you to be a part of it. Regardless of your playing experience, this is your chance to tell your friends that you have been recorded! It is also important that each of you participates. Each of you brings a special talent, and that is what makes this Club. The CD is a designed to be a representation of GPDA and what we have to offer. So let's have some fun and make the best music we can. For your review, this is a list of the tunes we plan to play. All are in the key of D: Black Mountain Rag Chinese Breakdown Clinch Mountain Backstep Cripple Creek June Apple Lisa Jane Midnight On The Water Mississippi Sawyer Old Joe Clark Southwind Sweet Sunny South Whiskey Before Breakfast Wildwood Flower See you all October 14 th ! Till we play again... Chuck VP

Special Announcement

For sale: I am going to sell my 12 string mandola. It has 4 courses with 3 strings per course. It is tuned CGDA like a viola or tenor banjo. I bought it new from the luthier in Rockport, Maine in 1999. I have not played it much and it needs to be played. It also comes with a new gig bag. It has a beautiful sound. There are only three in existance that I know of. One went to a person in Italy, I have one, and Nick kept the third one. If you are interested or want to see/play it, please let me know. I will have it at Winfield in camp as well.
Henry
