FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

KAREN'S CORNER:

May Days are here! With special "thanks" to Steve Madorin for setting us
up with the location at the BEA LAKE, GPDA now has another wonderful
'Spring Fling' under our belts. Although the day started out rather damp
and dreary, it eventually became a sunny bright fun-filled day. We didn't
have to call out the fire department for the cook out ... but it was a
close call when the grease on the cooker began to blaze. "Anyone for well
done?" With the afternoon filled with music, laughter and fellowship, it
made for wonderful time. Marie Anderson and Teresa McDoniel must be two
of the luckiest gals around winning door prizes once again. Another plus
for the day was the opportunity to view the club's historical scrapbooks.
For anyone who hasn't had the opportunity to look at these books, take
the time to do so. See who you recognize or NOT, what contributions they
may have made to the club in years past. Our past historians and your
present historian, Jim Roe, have been doing a fine job taking time to
preserve our history. By seeing the past, we can sometimes see the
direction that we can take to help guide us into the future. Speaking of
which...we now have our new T-SHIRTS which became available at the Spring
Fling. And if that isn't enough...we also will have available at the next
meeting, the club's YEARBOOK and new business cards. Thanks for those
'go-getters' Mike Huddleson, Barbara Barr, Joe and Marie Anderson. It is
what we can do for each other that makes this club a great club, bringing
it all together for a good cause. The 'Cause' - we LOVE MUSIC and
FELLOWSHIP. Hope to see everyone on Saturday.

Karen ,   President

P.S. We have a new member that joined us ... RINGER the music-loving
kitten. Proud 'Momma' Marie Anderson is raising him after he was found
abandoned on the neighbors' garage floor. His favorite song? GREY CAT ON
A TENNESSEE FARM????

VICE PRESIDENTIAL CORNER:

How time does fly. May is here, and by the time you read this, Marie and
I will be on our way to Glen Rose for the Lone Star dulcimer festival.
Although attendance was a little light, we had a great time at the spring
fling. Good food, good music, a great facility. Thanks to Steve Madorin,
for getting the building. Thanks to everyone who helped out, especially
Karen, Barbara, and Marie. A big thank you to Barbara Barr for all of her
hard work on this year's handbook. Your board is starting to plan for the
warm-up picnic (4 months away). Also looking at a camp and jam at Lake
Afton this summer. Lotsa things going on, get on and enjoy the ride!!

VP Joe Anderson

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

COWTOWN OPENING THIS WEEKEND FOR THE
2004 SEASON

For those of you feeling spontaneous and musical, come on out and play for the season opening crowds at Cowtown this weekend. Just dress up in period (1870's) clothes, go out to Cowtown, and set up somewhere and start playing the old-timey traditional tunes which fit in so well out there on our old-timey instruments. Also, be sure to sign in the volunteers notebook so they know the GPDA was there.

Iron Horse Benefit Concert Update:

Iron Horse Benefit Update:

A great time was had by all who attended the 2004 GPDA Iron Horse Benefit Concert. What a fantastic evening we had. The night started with a poetry reading of original poems by Margo Imes, then followed with performances by club officers and members. The music was very good. And some of our club members took their stage abilities to new highs. Did somebody mention the 60's? You had to be there to see The Woodstock Rejects!! Mere words can not describe the stage presence of this group. I'm sure photos will be present at the next club meeting to view, to better appreciate the "Retro" style of music the act performed, ha ha ha. To all of you who assisted, performed and attended I extend a big heartfelt " Thank You ". You made the 2004 Concert a success.

Larry
