NOTE FROM OUR PRESIDENT:
Hi all
First, a big thank you to everyone that came out to play for the grand opening of the new welcome center at Cowtown. We had very short notice, but still had a good showing. Thanks to all.
We have several play dates coming up - on Dec.8th at Broadway Christian Church for the Grief Group that meets there. Dec. 9th & 10th is Christmas at Cowtown. Be sure and wear your black & white.
GPDA Christmas party will also be Dec 10th at Immanuel Baptist Church, in the basement. 11am to 4pm.
Also planning the winter retreat for sometime in Jan. We will have more details soon. The Delancy/Thomas workshops and concert is set up for Feb. 11th. This is such a great time of the year, with all the music going, workshops, family to visit with, and no grass to mow!!!
May you all have a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.
Prez. Joe

VICE PRESIDENTIAL CORNER:
|
A FEW WORDS FROM OUR VP:
Greeting to 2006. I hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas Season and a safe New Year.
With the new year before us, I want to remind you of some of the special events the club will be having this Spring:
This month's Club meeting workshops will be a real "Jane Festival". Have you noticed that whenever you call out "Liza Jane" at a play around, the question always comes back "Which one?" Well, this month we'll take a look at three: Lil' Liza Jane, Liza Jane and Big Liza Jane. If there are any other "Janes" out there, please feel free to bring them along. So limber up your fingers, and come ready to learn or share! If you would like a copy of any of the Liza Janes to practice before next meeting, please contact me via e-mail at ccarr@mvpcorp.com . I'll send a copy to you.
January 20th is our "play for your supper and rodeo" event. We have been asked to play for the rodeo group again this year. It is at the Coliseum, January 20th. Need to be there and ready to play at 6:00p.m. Barb needs a head count very soon, so if you are planning to attend, please contact her as soon as you can.
January 21st we will be gathering at Lake Afton for our annual Winter Lake Jam. This is a full day long event of Jamming to your favorite tunes, eating, resting by the fire, eating, walking by the lake, eating and more jamming. Did I mention eating? In the past, there has been a small fee for this event to offset some of the cost. This year, we have been fortunate, and the Club is able to cover the full cost. So this is a free event. I encourage everyone to try to make it out during the day. We do ask that you bring a snack/Pot Luck in the evening. For more information and to learn how you can help, contact Teresa Bachman, e-mail - terbachman@sbcglobal.net
February 11th, 1:00 to 5:30 p.m. - Workshops and concert presented by Linda Thomas, Dan and Ronnie Delancey. Workshops will be on Hammered Dulcimer, Flatpick Guitar and Bass. We will also have space available for folks that just want to jam. Please help get the word out to all of your musical and non-musical fiends. There is a small $5 fee for one workshop or concert and $10 will get you two workshops of your choice and the concert. This is a great group to learn from and they'll present a wonderful concert. So mark your calendar. If you would like more information about the group, go to their web site: www.lindadan.com
March will be here before we know it, so start thinking about the GPDA Benefit Concert.
Chuck, your Veep
