Happy New Year

FROM OUR PRESIDENT:

Again I am pleased and honored that you have trusted me with this responsibility.

Well, here we are with a whole new year for enjoying fellowship, encouraging one another and being encouraged by each other. I am excited to see what challenges we can meet as far as play dates. Oh, the possibilities. The new CD has shown me that we really can play as a cohesive group. I think we can confidently contribute in whatever environment we may find ourselves.

I am grateful for my fellow officers and must give a hearty thanks to brother Dwight for handling e-mail and other computer expertise. This does require information traveling through two households so if we suffer a time lag, please be patient. The Afton retreat is fast approaching. What a wonderful setting for this anticipated event. If you've not been to one before, you have a real treat in store for you. A view of the lake, a crackling fire, good food, good friends and good music, what more could one ask. 20 Jan 07 We will be asking five dollars at the door. Bring your favorite pot luck dish and come share a great day.

Hope to see you at the Saturday meeting, 13 Jan .
Share the magic of music.

Pat

VICE PRESIDENTIAL CORNER:

A FEW WORDS FROM OUR VP:

Here it comes! A brand new year with new challenges, opportunities and blessings! How do you plan to face each new situation? I for one am really looking forward to a new year with the GPDA. I'm just learning a few of my responsibilities as vice president of our organization and hope that I can live up to the job. Along with our Jan. resolutions for life-changing activities, how about resolving to master your instrument or perhaps a new one. Take a big, new step, work hard to achieve it and commit to reaching your goal by the end of '07.

This will be a fun month with our Retreat on Jan. 20th. Be sure to be at the meeting on the 13th to help plan and also to learn a new tune. Pat (Pres) has some great ideas for this year. I'll have copies of a new song for all to learn together....Battle of Shiloh Hill. Bring your capo, dulcimer players. We will be taking orders for additional sweat shirts and hoodies for all those who are interested. See you there!

Happy New Year from Lonnie V. P.

Special Announcement

For sale:

I am going to sell my 12 string mandola. It has 4 courses with 3 strings per course. It is tuned CGDA like a viola or tenor banjo. I bought it new from the luthier in Rockport, Maine in 1999. I have not played it much and it needs to be played. It also comes with a new gig bag. It has a beautiful sound. There are only three in existance that I know of. One went to a person in Italy, I have one, and Nick kept the third one. If you are interested or want to see/play it, please let me know. I will have it at Winfield in camp as well.
