KAREN'S CORNER:
"Alone we can do so little, together we can do so much." – Helen Keller By coming together in El Dorado, KS. at the Iron Horse Concert Hall on March 13, 2004, our club members made the yearly GPDA fundraiser something to remember. I personally want to thank everyone who supported the club by attending and/or performing that night. Such a wonderful group of talented folks who love their music and instruments made it all happen. Don Koke and his Iron Horse Concert Hall was truly the key in allowing us a place to gather and, as always, he was so giving of his talents. For that, here's a great big THANK YOU...!! Together we can do so much to keep alive traditional music and enjoy the beautiful sounds of acoustical musical instruments in our lifetime and for generations to come. Join Us. Karen , President

For those of you that missed the Iron Horse benefit concert, Na Na Nah Na Na Nah. We had a good time, some really good talent, as usual, and some pretty questionable characters. Thanks to Larry for his efforts, and to all who helped out. Spring Fling coming up on April 24th at the Boeing Lake. 10:30am to 6:30pm. We will break at 1:30 for lunch. I will fire up a big grill at 1:00, everybody bring your hamburger, hotdogs, steak, brats, or whatever you want. Asking everyone to bring a small dessert and side dish for the potluck. Coffee, tea, water will be furnished, bring your own soft-drinks. If you don't want to/can't be there for lunch, then come and go as you please. Planning on having a small sound system setup for an open mic in the evening. This will be a great chance to jam, eat, jam, visit, jam, fish, or maybe we can jam a little too. Boeing is having an open house that day, might be a chance to expose some people to the GPDA, or just music in general. When you arrive at the BEA Lake, tell the guard you are with the Steve Madorin party, and they will give you directions. Look for the big yellow GPDA banner. Invite your friends, come out, and have a good time. Got Questions? e-mail jm or call 1-620-488-3673 in the evenings (after 6:30pm). VP Joe Anders

ANNOUNCEMENTS: |

COWTOWN OPENING THIS WEEKEND FOR THE For those of you feeling spontaneous and musical, come on out and play for the season opening crowds at Cowtown this weekend. Just dress up in period (1870's) clothes, go out to Cowtown, and set up somewhere and start playing the old-timey traditional tunes which fit in so well out there on our old-timey instruments. Also, be sure to sign in the volunteers notebook so they know the GPDA was there. Iron Horse Benefit Concert Update: Iron Horse Benefit Update: A great time was had by all who attended the 2004 GPDA Iron Horse Benefit Concert. What a fantastic evening we had. The night started with a poetry reading of original poems by Margo Imes, then followed with performances by club officers and members. The music was very good. And some of our club members took their stage abilities to new highs. Did somebody mention the 60's? You had to be there to see The Woodstock Rejects!! Mere words can not describe the stage presence of this group. I'm sure photos will be present at the next club meeting to view, to better appreciate the "Retro" style of music the act performed, ha ha ha. To all of you who assisted, performed and attended I extend a big heartfelt " Thank You ". You made the 2004 Concert a success. Larry
